Have you noticed the growing number of very cool cafes in Scarborough and Doubleview? This coastal community is raising the bar and connecting locals with the lifestyle we love to share with friends and family. That morning traditional macchiato with homemade brekkie tart has never tasted better than the culinary experience on offer at La Farmacia.Nestled among neighbouring shopfronts at unit A/255 Scarborough Beach Road Doubleview, this exquisite petite café reminds us of stepping into any number of similar venues in the iconic Flinders Lane Melbourne precinct. I even got that whimsical Alice in Wonderland feeling while savouring a green smoothie in the eclectic colourful interior (that floor!), complete with gingerbread men.
That’s right! Some of you might remember that The Gingerbread People operated from this very shopfront for some years. It’s great to know that the gingerbreads are alive and well (easily the best in town!) and that the transformation has been in the makeover and the expansion of services, not in the ownership. When we asked Sandra what inspired her and Kristen to morph into La Farmacia she told us “Kristen and I wanted to create an interesting and fun place where locals (and visitors) could come and "get their daily fix" of awesome coffee (we serve Pound) and find a special treat at the same time. We believe that variety and choice is fantastic for the local community and we are now seeing that in the Doubleview / Scarborough area.”And while we would love to be selfish and keep La Farmacia to ourselves, the work of Sandra Scott, Chef Rachel and the team is too good an experience not to share them with the world.
